Wear-Resistant Fe6AlCoCrNi Medium-Entropy Alloy Coating Made by Laser Cladding

An Fe6AlCoCrNi medium-entropy (MEA) coating was coated on a steel substrate by laser cladding. The micro-structure, crystal structure, phases, and wear properties of the were investigated. mainly composed dendritic face-center cubic (FCC) phase, which showed preferred orientation <2 0 0>, normal to surface, body-center (BCC) phase. MEA exhibited satisfactory rigidity with superior resistance at different loads temperatures, much higher than that substrate. When test temperature increased from 293 K 573 K, coefficient friction (COF) markedly decreased about 0.75 0.35; large decrease in also observed. mechanism abrasion room temperature, while high temperatures involved considerable oxidation, enhanced coating.
